What’s for dinner?

chefs' night out

Well in this case you won’t know until the night ... Chefs’ Night Out is a charity event completely new to Wales. And we’ve just designed their website.

The concept is simple: fifteen of the finest chefs will cook for 150 guests at Holland House, Cardiff. Each chef creates a four-course menu per table, but it’s only at the evening’s reception that you’ll discover who’s cooking your dinner. All the money raised goes to Ty Hafan – a brilliant charity that supports life-limited children and their families.

We’re really happy to be able to lend our support to Chefs’ Night Out. Take a look here for more info and tickets.

Vineyard branding - elegant, fruity with a hint of oak

wernddu

‘Blossoming perry trees; sunny slopes, grazing alpacas and row upon row of lush green vines. Beyond the farm are the rolling Wye Valley hills, sprawling forests and wide-open skies. Welcome to Wernddu Organics.’

Sounds lovely doesn’t it. And it is. Whenever we visit the Strawfords’ vineyard near Monmouth we feel our city stresses ebb away. This branding projects has been a treat. Not only for some nature time and wine tasting, but also working with a couple who are very passionate about what they do and open to sharing and engaging with the branding process.

We also designed and wrote copy for banners, wine labels, tags for knitted products, brochures and a website: www.wernddu.com

Moo to you too

www.sudaco.co.uk

Remember the brand we created for Sudaco, the free-range farmers in Brecon? Well, we’ve just finished their website. And thanks to WordPress it’s also a content management system. This means Sue can be in complete control of the site: updating news, events, prices, testimonials, etc. And it’s fully optimised too; so customers-to-be can find them quickly and easily.

Give us a call to talk about how we can use design and technology to improve your business.

Roll up, roll up

One of our established clients is Holiday Inn, Cardiff. We were recently commissioned to design a series of external banners, posters and and roll-up systems inline with the company’s rebrand. From wedding packages to sport related offers and various other things, it’s been keeping us busy.

Zooooooooooooooom

www.huffsport.com

It’s been a pleasure to work with Robert Huff, the professional touring car championship driver. We designed a new CMS website for him so wherever he is in the world (last seen: Marrakesh) he can update with his news and race reports. The site links in with Twitter too.

He’s aiming to be this year’s FIA World Touring Car Champion and we wish him all the best. About the site, he said: ‘Spot on! I’m really happy with it and I’m getting so many people saying how good it looks. Cheers!’

Mackintosh House

www.mackintoshhouse.net

Fresh off the press (as it were) is a site for Mackintosh House – a Victorian house refurb and conversion into serviced office space. It’s been a pretty speedy turnaround from brief to design & build but that’s fine with us.

BBC Mastercrafts starring Kate's bro

www.thegreenwoodchairproject.co.uk

I’ve always known my brother Tom is brilliantly talented so it was no surprise that he was selected to train for BBC 2’s green wood Mastercrafts programme. (You may have seen the episode on Friday night presented by Monty Don.) Tom spent 6 weeks training and honing his skills at the Woodland Workshop – by all accounts an amazing experience.

We put together Tom’s new website in time for the show which will be developed futher in the months to come. Follow his progress as he develops his craft or ring him up to talk about how he could help out with your green wood project. He’d love that. Okay plug over.

Jasper

www.jasperblakeley.co.uk

We've just finished a website design and build for Jasper Blakeley – Entertainer & Magician. We thought we’d let him tell you all about it:

Jasper said: "I’m truly delighted with the website Blindspot designed for my business. From our initial meeting right up to the site going live, my ideas and opinion were taken on board entirely. It’s great to be made such an important part of the process and to have your thoughts brought to life with such style and imagination.

Reactions to the site from colleagues, friends and customers has been fantastic, and with the on-going support from Blindspot Design, I can see my business has a very bright future, only problem is I don’t want to share their skills with my competitors!".

We will be adding the work to our portfolio shortly but if you can't wait take a look here: www.jasperblakeley.co.uk

Global AutoCorrect

gac

We first met Neil a year or so ago and were blown away with his enthusiasm, passion and innovative product. Whilst at University, he created a piece of assistive software called Global AutoCorrect for people with dyslexia – it helps ideas to flow and improves spelling.

Now he’s running the company full-time and we’ve created brand identities for both LexAble and GAC as well as designing dvd inlays and print. The website is now live with further development to take place later this month. Take a lookhere.

Neil said: "I’m extremely pleased with the quality of work. The visuals look stunning – absolutely fantastic!".

Sending out an SOS

Karen came to us on recommendation, which is always nice. She was looking for a brand identity and website for her start-up that offers outsourced services for businesses. We worked together through the creative process: initial research and exploration to sketch board and ideas, then taking our findings and moulding them into an appropriate solution. After finalising the logotype focus shifted to the web design and build.

Karen is really pleased with the result: "The overall look and feel is spot on! You’ve translated my thoughts perfectly".

Farm life

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Sue and Dave of Sudaco: free range farmers from the rolling hills of Brecon. An engaging and fun identity was produced. The aim was to create the sense of a busy, working farm and emphasise the happy nature of the animals. Roll out included banners, livery and a brochure to accompany Sudaco’s succulent meats and they’re coming to a farmer’s market near you. We’re now looking forward to designing the website.

What’s been going on?

Lots, thanks for asking: things have been ticking over nicely at Blindspot HQ. We’ve been working with KISS on various print and promo items, designing invitations for Stagecoach Theatre Arts plus bits and pieces for Jewellery Studio, Corbetts, Holiday Inn and Merthyr Crown Court. Varied. Busy. Just the way we like it.

We have moved

Yes Blindspot Design has moved around the corner to 1 Pontcanna Street. We’re right at the top sharing a floor with our friends Loosemore Home and just downstairs are our new neighbours Effective Communications. We’re now next door to the Cameo club – perfect for latte and cake. There’s still a bit to do here and there, but we’re very pleased with our new home.

P.S. Our phone number has changed. You’ll find us at at the end of: 029 2019 1177

The Jewellery Studio

A diamond specialist and exclusive stockist of jewellery ranges, The Jewellery Studio was looking for a rebrand that oozed style and personality. The finished logotype picks up on the distinct curves and lines found in jewellery and the soft colour gradient reflects the light and shine of fine cut diamonds. Following an extensive web redesign and build plus press advertising, the owner Roger Williams is delighted with his business's new look.

Now we are 6!

kate's mac

So happy birthday to us. There’s been laughter, tears and this year the highs have definitely out weighed the lows. The only downer was Kate’s mac abruptly dying, but it’s amazing what you can do with a soldering iron and an online tutorial. Anyway, a big thank you to all our clients, old and new: we wouldn’t be here without you. Cheers!

Which witch is which

Kate has launched a website dedicated to proofreading, copy-editing and typing services. Of course, work produced for Blindspot clients is proofread as a matter of course, but for those who need a fresh pair of eyes for a brochure, website, magazine or book, then you’ll find the details at:www.the-proofreader.co.uk.

Voila!

Here it is: our shiny new website! We took on your feedback and created a place that speaks most about why we're here: the work. We've tried to keep things nice and simple, making it easier to move around and see what you want to see. Hopefully you'll agree; feel free to get in touch and share your thoughts.
